Arguing

I love being an English Major. No other major gets to write about dragons and murder and write endlessly about a the color of the sky without going to see a Psychologist. But I hate how biased it is. I sit in my classes and we talk about stories that we read or more specifically stories that other people in the class wrote and we start to fight. Not fist fights- because we're English majors and our muscles are more like jelly- but verbal fighting. One girl loves how poetic the 2nd person was in the 500 word story- another person just didn't get it. And yea everyone is entitled to their opinions blah blah blah. But then how do the teachers grade? While I would die if I were a math or science major they don't know how lucky they are that when they write down an answer it is either write or wrong. We don't have that luxury. We have to hope and pray that our teachers like humor or like concise to the point writing that is not bogged down with a 15 paragraph description on leaves.
It gets frustrating listening to people argue about a story and why it is good or bad. Its pointless to argue about it because whether or not a story is good or bad is based on your opinion, nothing else.
